Early this year we saw a new app emerge and take the social world by storm. TikTok quickly became a place people went for entertainment and advice. As with any new application, there was much skepticism about the longevity and security of TikTok. We’ve seen a lot of success from early adopters and many more have joined the app in recent months.

TikTok is a stand-alone app, allowing 15-60 second videos of literally anything and everything. Its algorithm is highly specific and it plays right into this current generation’s limited attention span. With nearly 2 Billion downloads of the app, it’s safe to say TikTok is taking over.

TikTok has users of all ages, yes, but that doesn’t mean your audience is interested in it. The average user is between 10-29 so keep that in mind as you create a strategy.

The challenge with TikTok is that because of the short form design, you only have seconds to keep someone from scrolling right past your video. To combat this you must create brand awareness this means similar faces, multiple times for an extended period. 

Do you have the time? 

TikTok is time consuming. Trending content changes multiple times a day and it’s critical to stay on top of it all. Between the trends and challenges, being visible on TikTok requires significant filming and editing time. You must also be dedicated to scrolling through the app regularly to stay updated on what’s trending. These short videos really aren’t as effortless as they look.
